JENNIE MARY TAI LIU is an artist working across performance, video, writing, and education

Rooted in their study of Cha no yu (the Way of Tea), and framed by live performances of early house music classics, HOUSE MUSIC reflects on the relational value of aesthetics, the intersection of personal practice and community building, and the intimacy of collaboration.     

In HOUSE MUSIC, performers Jennie Liu and Andrew Gilbert invite small groups of guests into their stark, movable, ten-by-ten house, to witness and participate in a commitment ceremony to the creative process.

Jack your Body

In response to their ongoing study of the Urasenke tradition of Japanese tea ceremony, the artists reflect on the ways in which performance practice has been transmitted and maintained in their personal lives.

Behind the house lies a studio, open to visitors, where throughout the residency the artists commit to a daily practice.
